When I met up with Heather & Matt Loftiss of Water Design Studio, they immediately made me smile & laugh. I don’t know why, but that always gives me the sense that someone is an excellent person to know when they have that effect on me. I especially loved that Matt had been storyboarding ideas for our session – just the quick sketches that you see above, ideas for their upcoming site redesign.

Water Design Studio is an award winning Houston creative group with specialization in brand development. The studio is niche focused to serve software, professional services, education, non-profit and the healthcare industry. The signature of their work is highly creative and illustrative graphic design.

Usually someone is either left-brained or right-brained. Heather is one of those rare gems who brings a strong mix of both strategy and creative to every project. (This could be why I instantly felt a connection with her, since I am the same way.) Her business sense helps her branding and design work generate tangible, measurable results for clients. And a few awards to boot.

Matt is a designer, an illustrator, a terrible jazz guitarist, and second place winner of Studio Smackdown. His work is showcased monthly by the Houston Advertising Federation and can be found on countless consumer products. An expert brand strategist, Matt consults with clients to make sure they are poised for growth.

I have already worked with Water Design Studio on another project – an upcoming advertising campaign for one of their clients. Matt sent me his mockups for the creative ideas he had and how the photography would tie into the campaign, and he came along for the session and was professional and delightful to work with. Not everyone can pull off both! It was so cool to see the result of the shoot that he sent along to the client afterwards; it was a great collaboration and I can’t wait to share the final pieces with you.

Working with them both on their own session and on a session for a client gave me a unique insight into how they work and what they produce, and it is top notch! They are such professionals while remaining fun at the same time. You couldn’t ask for a better team to work with!
