The Mission Behind the SLGT Photo Project

Last week as I was discussing my idea for this project with J.R. Cohen of SLGT, he asked me a very simple yet incredibly hard question. Why? Why did I want to take this on? It is an ambitious project. So why?

It stopped me in my tracks and really made me think about all of my motivation behind this. Here we go, in no particular order.

  • I want to take on a 365 project that challenged my creativity. I find having a personal project not related to weddings & portrait sessions actually makes me even more inspired.
  • I think We SLGT is an absolutely awesome project, and I want to do everything I can to get the word out and to help everyone involved.
  • I want a way to give back and help out other businesses in my community. Everyone deserves good photography.
  • I want to get the word out that in addition to my other photography work, I take on business related work as well for a wide variety of clients. It is a great fit for me with most weddings being on Saturdays.
  • It will help me diversify my skills.
  • I am SUPER excited about meeting so many new people that I don’t already know in the Houston community!

I am open to what the future brings – I actually have no idea how this will all look by Day 365, but I can’t WAIT to find out! I know there will be quite a journey of discovery along the way!

If you haven’t signed up already, go here to Buy a Day!

Please update the post to include the limitation that you’ll only serve commercial interested. I didn’t find that out until trying to buy several days of photography to donate to charity causes.

ReaderX, I wish you had left a real name and email so I could contact you. Depending on the charity causes, you are welcome to buy days for them. Feel free to contact me through the form on the side to discuss it further. Thanks so much!
